Inktober Challenge 2022

Welcome readers, thanks for having a deeper look into my work and hopefully once you finish this post, you get to know my creative process a bit better.

In previous years I have attempted the INKTOBER challenge, but I did not get the result I wanted as I did not know how to schedule and produce a plan for a project according to my needs and the way I function as an artist. So, for this October 2022, I am facing this challenge from a different perspective.

As an artist I have the need to create something with some background story. I am not special or different on this point, but somehow when I build a story day by day, it will connect more to my true self than if I build the story and finish the artwork in one day. It is like if each day I could add more value to the piece, getting a better connection to the artwork and truly believing in the story I am telling. Understanding this, I knew that in the 31 days of the Inktober Challenge, I had to work for only 1 final piece.

This final piece would be a poster design.

That seemed okay but some questions started raising in my mind: Which paper format shall I use_ This challenge is made from 31 words that I need to represent in drawings, will they fit inside the same document? What if one day the word that I have to draw breaks my entire scene? As well I have to consider how will I share this is SSMM: shall I post them on my feed? Or only as reels? Will I have enough time each day to draw my related drawing? Colour or Black and White?

Those questions were good to clarify the project needs:

1. A3 document.

2. Dividing the A3 paper in 31cells.

3. Just be creative.

4. Final piece to be post in the feed.

5. Posting one reel of the drawing I had done each day.

6. Yes

7. Black and White but maybe I would add some colour.

1st step dividing the sheet in 31 cells and adding the "Inktober tittle". All the characters would be doing something around them.

PUMPKIN PARTY - INKTOBER 2022

Getting closer to the Valley we find a Pumpkin wearing a GARGOYLE’s wings. She is just enjoying the ambience of the party she is assisting to. A mouse, at the front of the scene, is trying to SCURRY from a scary BAT pumpkin and from a torch FLAMES. On the very right side, a pumpkin is inside a shell, floating on the ink river, eating the SCALLOP. Behind, a pirate is on a TRIP looking for his treasure with his CRABBY companion in the crow’s nest. Two pumpkins are playing PAIRING 2 humans’ eyes. One of these is dressed up like an EAGLE and just flew from the tree branch, from where FORGOT to take care of the NEST. This one, with two eggs, is falling at the high of the flower BOUQUETS. Sat on the “2022” we meet two KIND skeletons immersed in a hug while walking towards them a FOWL. This one seems annoyed, probably he does not stand goodness Just right in the middle, a ghost finds that his ghost friend is now an EMPTY bedsheet. Close to them, an ARMADILLO resting on the tree and 2 pumpkins sat on the “k” and “o” letters while eating SALTY popcorn. But they should be careful as the tree is SCRAPPING the letters and it may take a bad decision and attack them. None aware of the surroundings, we find a pumpkin dancing with her PONYTAIL, while a HEIST is happening on her back. This thief must look where he is going as a massive BOOGER just trapped another pumpkin and could trap him too. A BAD DOG is trying to alert the mansion's owner that is at the top of the hill, but it is a futile effort. The loud noise of this party had its consequences and now the mansion’s door is SNACK. Next to it, a pumpkin is just absorbed by his EGO. Although the crime scene is not fully dark, as we have candles and 2 BLUFFS lit, it seems like the night's enchantment has captured these humans in a deep dream and they won’t wake up. FAIRIES on a side greeting the old souls of the dead. A ghost is feeling tempted to steal the thief's bag. A second theft sings UH-OH UH-OH while in the bottom of the broom another thief is CAMPING, taking care of the FARM products they have just stolen. It is only 12am according to the GEAR clock from the mansion, and our pumpkin party is creating too many coos in the valley. But soon the night will be over and it won’t be until 2023 that they show up again
